Just a quick update! Great night in St Joseph’s Church this evening. Thanks to George Lee and Mayo Concert Orchestra for a fine evening’s entertainment. Thanks to soloist Ronan Egan and to Cathal Gavin, a young singer from Swinford who enthralled all gathered.
Will add a few more thoughts but, for now, a seasonal Carol to enjoy:
Amongst the many pieces performed by Mayo Concert Orchestra, under the “baton” of George Lee, was my favourite song. I was singing along inside!! It’s the Isle of Inisfree by Dick Farrelly. Ironically a man at the concert, a retired Garda was a colleague of Dick Farrelly who, legend has it, wrote this song while on a bus to Dublin. That fare should be refunded!! With a song like this, it’s fair to say, Farrelly had paid his fare in full!!
Rupert Davis (kilmovee.info) was on hand and has added some fine photos of the night to the Community Website so check them out here
